Teens to collection personal-hygiene items for needy; please help

The Second Mile Club — area Catholic teens who are going the extra mile in their faith — are collecting personal-hygiene items for the Utica area needy.

Bags will be made for men and women and donated to the Mother Marianne Soup Kitchen, whic will distribute them.

Items needed include shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, bar soap, shaving cream, razors (men and women) aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, cold medicine (tablets), toothpaste, toothbrushes, dish soap, laundry soap pods, cleaning products, sponges, deodorant and toilet paper. Travel-size items are preferred, but any size will be accepted.

In our parish, there will be a bin on the floor by the Scalabrini niche at the Jay Street entrance to leave your donations. We kindly ask that all donations be in by Wednesday, March 25.

Area high school teens (grades 9-12) are invited to gather at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 28, in the school building at St. Mary’s Church, 13 Marvin St. in Clinton, to help organize the donated materials and put them into bags, along with prayer cards. All teens are welcome. It’s a great event if you need service hours for class or school, and this also is another way for students who have been confirmed to continue helping others.
