Differences between Prayer Remembrances, Mass Intentions

Last Updated on January 31, 2025 by Editor

There might be some confusion about the differences between Prayer Remembrances and Mass Intentions.

In December, the Diocese of Syracuse implemented a Mass Intentions policy in all its parishes.

This DOES NOT AFFECT our parish’s Prayer Remembrances, which still can be submitted as we have done for years via the Prayer Remembrance envelope with a suggested donation of $5. Please remember that Prayer Remembrances must be submitted two weeks prior to the date you wish to have them offered.

If you wish to have a specific intention offered at Mass that will be read aloud by Father Jim following the consecration, you MUST CALL the parish office at 315-735-1482. The diocese suggests a $15 offering per intention.

Up to five intentions can be offered during Masses at 8:30 a.m. Thursday and Fridays, and 8 and 11 a.m. Sundays. Please note that when selecting these Mass times, you agree to combine your intention with other intentions. Intentions will be placed on a list and scheduled based on the availability of Masses.

To review, Prayer Remembrances ($5) still are submitted via envelopes found in church; Mass Intentions ($15) are reserved by calling the parish office.

We hope this clears up any confusion.
