Second annual ‘A Jazz Nativity’ Dec. 20 in church

“Bending Towards the Light: A Jazz Nativity” will be presented at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, in the church. Presented by Chelsea Opera and Kindred Spirits of New York City in memory of Nicholas Priore. Many local musicians will participate.

Leonarda Priore is general manager and artistic director of the Chelsea Opera. She presents “Bending Towards the Light” in honor of her brother Nicholas.

“This will be the 10th anniversary of my brother’s untimely passing and I am certain that he would still be very positive and hopeful about life and the world that we live in because he always believed in something greater than ourselves,” she said. “In honor of him we plan to open the festivities of this most magnificent production to all that can come — free — just to enjoy and revel in the music and blessings that we do have.

“(The production) does require a great deal of financial support,” Leonarda said. “I know that while Nick has moved on to bigger and better things, he is always with us in spirit. Won’t you help to keep his spirit alive and give today to help us bring this production to the beautiful Central New York area again this season.”
