The parish festival take place July 13, 14 and 15. Set aside these dates so you can enjoy the weekend, volunteer and have some fun. Here is what’s happening and how you can help.

Buona Fortuna

Buona Fortuna tickets remain at $20 for the chance to win a grand prize of $10,000. Total prizes awarded will be $15,000.

Tickets are available in the parish office or at the church entrances. Ticket sellers are needed. Contact Leigh D’Agostino at 737-5965 to reserve your tickets for reselling as soon as possible. Remember, all ticket sellers who return 20 paid tickets are entitled to a free ticket

Flea market

Start setting aside your items for the flea market. Put aside gently used items such as lamps, books, dishes, handbags, linens, frames, pictures, small appliances, Christmas decorations and house wares.

Clothing, shoes, TVs, stoves, washers, dryers and refrigerators will not be accepted. After June 1, you may bring your items from 9 a.m. to noon to the gym. As we get closer to the festival, additional hours will be posted.

Please be considerate and drop your items away from the doorway. Also we ask that you refrain from “shopping” or selecting items when you drop things off in the gym.

The Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel continues weekly and will conclude Wednesday, July 18. Here is a partial list of the priests who have so far agreed to celebrate the Novena with us:

  • Wednesday, June 20: Father Abe Esper.
  • Wednesday, June 27: Father John Buehler
  • Monday, July 2: Father Joe Salerno
  • Wednesday, July 11: Father Angelicchio.
  • Monday, July 16: Father Jim.

Honor Our Lady of Mount Carmel with a ribbon

At the outdoor shrine honoring our patroness, we stop by to say a prayer or pay tribute to her. During the festival in her honor, the shrine is decorated with flowers and ribbons that are donated in memory of a loved one. If you wish to memorialize a loved one by purchasing a ribbon ($5), please stop by the parish office or call Rose Marie Chiffy at 735-6832.

Walk for Mary’s Children

Along with the festivities of the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we have a procession following the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, July 15. We dedicate this walk to Mary’s children and concentrate on feeding the hungry children of our area.

We ask that anyone who wishes to help with this cause, to bring in nonperishable food geared toward children: granola bars, juice boxes, individual puddings and fruit, jam, jellies, peanut butter, crackers, cereal, etc.

You may bring them to the novena or any time you are at church before our procession on July 15. Father Jim will bless the food on that day. Food may be placed in the service niche at the Jay Street entrance to church. Help us feed these hungry children.

Volunteers needed

Be sure to fill out a volunteer form for this year’s Parish Festival. We need help before, during and after the festival. Submit your form to the parish office, whether you are new to volunteering at the festival or you have done the same job for many years. We need to know that we can count on you.

Cookies needed for Café Stand

Get out your recipes, pick up the ingredients and plan to bake cookies for our Café Stand at this year’s festival. Cookies are a big seller. Donate a batch and bring them before to the Salerno Room on Thursday, July 12, before 2 p.m.
