Cookies from the heart: Use your baking skills for essential workers

We are all looking for ways to help those in our community who keep us safe — those who work in in grocery stores, hospitals and other essential businesses.

We have been asked to make masks, buy take-out or contribute financially.

We have another way that you can help as a parish. Our parishioners Chrissy and Jim Gray, who are essentials workers and have been on the receiving end of donated food at their work establishments, wanted to give back to other essential workers. They recently donated trays of cookies to the Utica Police Department in our parish’s name to show their appreciation for all that the police do for our community.

What can we do?

We are asking our parishioners to bake a batch (or two or three) of cookies so that our cookie team can deliver them to places with essential workers. Or, if you have a family member who works as an essential worker, please let us know where and we will make sure that we drop off cookies to their place of work.

Once your cookies are ready — you can place on a plate that you do not want returned or in a box or bag — contact either Chrissy Gray at 315-794-1143 or, or Anne Elacqua at 315-941-7447 or, and they will make arrangements with you to safely pick up the cookies from your home.

We have such wonderful bakers in our parish and this can be a great way to show our appreciation to the essential workers in our community.
